Police recover 4 illegal guns

CRIME SCENE: Macassar, Cape Town: The South African Police Service (SAPS) have removed four illegal guns from the community and arrested three suspects in different operations.

SAPS said an intelligence-driven operation by Khayelitsha and Macassar police led to the arrest of two suspects and the discovery of three firearms on Sunday, 26 July 2026.

The police received information about firearms at a house in Ring Avenue, Macassar, and searched the premises. A 9mm pistol with five rounds of ammunition was found in a car.

“Further investigation led the members to the back of the house, where they found a .38 Special revolver with 48 rounds of ammunition and a 9mm pistol. Two adult males were arrested for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition,” said SAPS.

On Monday evening, 27 July 2026, members of Macassar police were conducting patrols when they received information about a firearm at premises in Ray Street.

“The members searched the house, where they found a 9mm pistol with eight rounds of ammunition under the bath. An adult male was arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition,” said SAPS.
