MISDAADTONEEL: Macassar, Kaapstad: Die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD) het vier onwettige vuurwapens uit die gemeenskap verwyder en drie verdagtes gearresteer.
Die SAPD het gesê ‘n intelligensie-gedrewe operasie deur die Khayelitsha- en Macassar-polisie het gelei tot die arrestasie van twee verdagtes en ontdekking van drie vuurwapens Sondag, 26 Julie 2026.
Die polisie sê hulle het inligting ontvang oor vuurwapens by ‘n huis in Ring-laan, Macassar, en die perseel deursoek. Hier het hulle ‘n 9 mm-pistool met vyf rondtes ammunisie in ‘n motor gevind.
“Verdere ondersoek het die lede na die agterkant van die huis geeem waar hulle ‘n .38 Special-rewolwer met 48 rondtes ammunisie en ‘n 9 mm-pistool gevind het. Twee mans is gearresteer vir die besit van ongelisensieerde vuurwapens en ammunisie,” het die SAPD gesê.
Maandagaand, 27 Julie 2026 was lede van Macassar-polisie besig met patrollies toe hulle inligting ontvang het oor ‘n vuurwapen by ‘n perseel in Ray-straat.
“Die lede het die huis deursoek en ‘n 9 mm-pistool met agt rondtes ammunisie onder die bad gevind het. ‘n Volwasse man is gearresteer vir die besit van ‘n ongelisensieerde vuurwapen en ammunisie,” het die SAPD gesê.

Police recover 4 illegal guns
CRIME SCENE: Macassar, Cape Town: The South African Police Service (SAPS) have removed four illegal guns from the community and arrested three suspects in different operations.
SAPS said an intelligence-driven operation by Khayelitsha and Macassar police led to the arrest of two suspects and the discovery of three firearms on Sunday, 26 July 2026.
The police received information about firearms at a house in Ring Avenue, Macassar, and searched the premises. A 9mm pistol with five rounds of ammunition was found in a car.
“Further investigation led the members to the back of the house, where they found a .38 Special revolver with 48 rounds of ammunition and a 9mm pistol. Two adult males were arrested for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition,” said SAPS.
On Monday evening, 27 July 2026, members of Macassar police were conducting patrols when they received information about a firearm at premises in Ray Street.
“The members searched the house, where they found a 9mm pistol with eight rounds of ammunition under the bath. An adult male was arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition,” said SAPS.

MISDAADTONEEL: Delft, Kaapstad: ‘n Man is Dinsdagoggend, 28 Julie 2026 by ‘n taxistaanplek in Delft doodgeskiet.
Die skietery het omstreeks 6:30 by die taxistaanplek in Mango-straat plaasgevind.
Sersant Wesley Twigg, ‘n woordvoerder vir die Wes-Kaapse polisie, het sê toe Delft-polisielede by die misdaadtoneel aankom het hulle ‘n 34-jarige man met skietwonde aan sy liggaam gevind het.
“Die slagoffer is deur mediese personeel op die toneel dood verklaar. Die omstandighede rondom die voorval word ondersoek en geen arrestasies is nog gemaak nie,” het Twigg gesê.

MISDAADTONEEL: Paarl, Kaapse Wynland: Speurders van die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD) het ‘n verdagte gearresteer vir die gru-moord op die 57-jarige Jacoba Nel by ‘n gastehuis.
Kaptein FC Van Wyk, ‘n woordvoerder vir die Wes-Kaapse polisie, het gesê die volgehoue pogings van ‘n geïntegreerde span speurders het gelei tot die arrestasie van die 39-jarige verdagte Maandagmiddag, 27 Julie 2026 in Samora Machel, Philippi.
Die polisie het inligting opgevolg wat hulle van sosiale media ingesamel het in hul pogings om ‘n verdagte te arresteer vir die moord op Nel op 26 Maart 2026 by die Lemoenkloof-gastehuis in die Paarl.

Cops nab man for guesthouse killing
CRIME SCENE: Paarl, Cape Winelands: Detectives have arrested a suspect for the horrific murder of 57-year-old Jacoba Nel at a guesthouse.
Captain FC Van Wyk, a media liaison officer for the Western Cape police, said the relentless efforts of an integrated team of South African Police Service (SAPS) detectives led to the arrest of the 39-year-old suspect on Monday afternoon, 27 July 2026, in Samora Machel, Philippi.
The police followed up on information they gathered from social media in their efforts to arrest a suspect wanted for the murder of Nel, which occurred at the Lemoenkloof guest house in Paarl on 26 March 2026.
The information led the detectives to Samora Machel, where they identified and arrested the suspect after he had evaded arrest. The suspect faces a charge of murder.
He is due to appear in the Paarl Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 29 July 2026, where his bail will be opposed.
Nel, from Velddrif on the West Coast of the Western Cape, was looking after a family member’s property when she was murdered.

Man killed at taxi rank
CRIME SCENE: Delft, Cape Town: A man was shot and killed at a taxi rank in Delft on Tuesday morning, 28 July 2026.
The shooting happened at about 6.30 at a taxi rank in Mango Street.
Sergeant Wesley Twigg, a media liaison officer for the Western Cape police, said Delft police members attended to the crime scene where they found a 34-year-old with gunshot wounds to his body.
“The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation and no arrests have been made,” said Twigg.

Plumstead cable thieves arrested
CRIME SCENE: Plumstead, Cape Town: Excellent teamwork by SRU, Zone and Fidelity private security companies led to the arrest of two suspects early on Tuesday morning, 28 July 2026.
After the suspects were apprehended City of Cape Town Law Enforcement officers were called to the scene in Plumstead where they found the suspects in possession cables, believed to have been vandalised and stolen from the PRASA rail network.
Both suspects were arrested and the evidence handed over to the South African Police Service (SAPS).
“Well done to the vigilant armed response officers from SRU Security, supported by Zone and Fidelity, whose teamwork led to these arrests,” said JP Smith, the City of Cape Town’s Mayoral Committee member for Safety and Security.
“These private security companies compete with one another every day for customers. Their business depends on attracting clients to monitor alarm systems and protect private property.
“Yet, when it comes to fighting crime in our communities, they put competition aside.
“We recognise the enormous value that private security companies, neighbourhood watches and community improvement districts bring to public safety. We know, and openly acknowledge, that SAPS cannot be everywhere, all the time,” said Smith.

MISDAADTONEEL: Stellenbosch: ‘n Plaasbestuurder en sy vrou herstel van ernstige beserings nadat hulle by hul huis op Neethlingshof Landgoed aangeval is.
Die Vlottenburg Community Online-groep het die aanval op hul Facebook-blad aangekondig en gesê: “Nog ‘n plaasaanval het in ons vallei plaasgevind. Die Neethlingshof Landgoed se plaasbestuurder en gesin is vanaand omstreeks 19:00 (24 Julie 2026) deur die balaklawa-bende aangeval en aangerand. Gelukkig is niemand in die aanval dood nie, maar die gesinslede is ernstig beseer. Enigiemand met inligting kan die Stellenbosch-polisie kontak. Kom ons hou ons gemeenskap veilig deur enige verdagte aktiwiteite en gedrag in ons vallei aan te meld.”
Na die aanval het die verdagtes goed van die plaas gesteel en gevlug.
Die Wes-Kaapse Minister van Polisietoesig en Gemeenskapsveiligheid, Anroux Marais, het die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD) versoek om elke beskikbare ondersoek- en intelligensiebron te gebruik om diegene wat verantwoordelik is, te identifiseer, te arresteer en te verseker dat hulle so gou as moontlik voor die howe gebring word.
“Dit is ‘n wrede daad van geweld. My gedagtes en gebede is met die beseerde paartjie en hul geliefdes. Ek wens hulle ‘n volle en spoedige herstel toe.
“Inwoners moet waaksaam bly en verdagte persone, voertuie of ongewone aktiwiteite aanmeld. Sterk vennootskappe tussen gemeenskappe en wetstoepassing-agentskappe bly een van die doeltreffendste maniere om misdaad te bekamp,” het Marais gesê.
Geen arrestasies is nog gemaak nie.
Husband and wife recovering from serious injuries
Brutal attack on farming couple
CRIME SCENE: Stellenbosch: A farm manager and his wife are recovering from serious injuries sustained during an attack at their home on Neethlingshof Estate.
The Vlottenburg Community Online group announced the attack on their Facebook page, stating: “Another Farm attack happened in our valley. The Neethlingshof Estate farm manager and family was attacked and assaulted by the balaclava mask gang around 7:00pm tonight (24 July 2026). Luckily no one died in the attack but the family members were badly injured. Anyone with information can contact the Stellenbosch police station. Let’s keep our community safe and secure by reporting any suspicious activity and behaviour in our valley.”
After the attack the suspects stole things from the farm and fled.
Western Cape Minister of Police Oversight and Community Safety, Anroux Marais, called on the South African Police Service (SAPS to use every available investigative and intelligence resource to identify those responsible, arrest them and ensure they are brought before the courts as quickly as possible.
“This a a brutal act of violence. My thoughts and prayers are with the injured couple and their loved ones. I wished them a full and speedy recovery.
“Residents must remain vigilant and report suspicious people, vehicles or unusual activity. Strong partnerships between communities and law enforcement remain one of the most effective ways to combat crime,” said Marais
No arrests have yet been made.
