CRIME SCENE: Du Noon, Cape Town: Two politicians were gunned down during voter registration weekend.

Democratic Alliance (DA) ward candidate for the upcoming local government elections, Sinovuyo Dyokwe, was killed in Du Noon on Saturday night, 20 June 2026 at about 18:00 while returning home from a voter registration venue.

Zwide, Gqeberha: ANC councillor Sicelo Mleve was also shot and killed Saturday night about 18:50. It is alleged that two unknown armed men stormed his office while a meeting consisting of roughly 10 people was actively underway.

According to the police the suspects held the victims at gunpoint, ordering everyone present to hand over their cellphones. One of the suspects then fired multiple shots at Mleve before fleeing. He was declared deceased on the scene.
