Twins brutally gunned down

CRIME SCENE: Bochabela, Free State: The South African Police Service (SAPS) have launched a manhunt for the suspects involved in the brutal killing of twin businessmen.

The 52-year-old Kegomodicoe Lekone and Keabecoe Lekone were killed on Wednesday morning, 21 October 2026, in Ramatsoele Street, Bochabela, near Bloemfontein while sitting inside their charcoal-coloured Ford Ranger.

According to SAPS, Mangaung police received a complaint of a shooting in progress from Radio Control at approximately 08:51. The response vehicle arrived at the scene at approximately 09:00.

“A witness who was on the first floor inside the double-storey building said that he heard gunshots. He alleged that he rushed outside to establish where the sound of the shots came from, when he noticed an African male running towards a white Chevrolet Aveo hatchback and that the vehicle sped off.

“There were possibly two other occupants already inside the vehicle. Other crime scene role players were summoned, and it was established that the twins had been gunned down at the gate of the premises. Both the driver and the passenger sustained gunshot wounds and were declared dead at the scene,” said SAPS.

It was later established that the twins were the owners of Ekhayeni Lounge Bar. Two murder cases were opened at Mangaung police station. The Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes, Murder and Robbery Unit has since launched a manhunt for the suspects.
