15-year-old among alleged robbers in Eldorado Park

E-hailing suspects swiftly nabbed

CRIME SCENE: Eldorado Park, Johannesburg: Four young suspects, including a 15-year-old, have been arrested following the armed robbery of an e-hailing driver.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), the swift investigation by members of Eldorado Park Crime Intelligence, Detectives and Visible Policing (VISPOL) led to the arrest of the suspects.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, at approximately 11:00 in Eldorado Park Extension 7. The 20-year-old e-hailing driver, operating a white Toyota Etios, responded to a ride request to pick up a passenger on Maine Street.

“Upon arrival, a female suspect signalled the driver and entered the front passenger seat, instructing him to wait for her brothers. Two male suspects subsequently joined them.

“One suspect engaged the vehicle’s handbrake while the group forcibly robbed the driver of an undisclosed amount of cash, his driver’s licence, identity document, and bank cards. A fourth suspect standing outside the vehicle fired a gunshot and demanded the driver’s mobile phone. The suspects subsequently fled the scene without taking the phone.

“Following up on information, officers managed to arrest the suspects aged between 15 and 21-years. All suspects face charges related to armed robbery and firearm offences,” said SAPS.
