CRIME SCENE: Eldorado Park, Johannesburg: There was high drama at a scrapyard in Freedom Park on Monday 21 September 2026 when police tried to arrest a suspect and he fired at them.

The suspect is linked to a murder and hijacking incident in which a woman’s body was found along a roadside at Nancefield in Eldorado Park on 24 August 2026. The 27-year-old deceased had injuries to her upper body, and a murder and hijacking case was subsequently opened.

On 21 September 2026, at about 10:00, intelligence information led police to the scrapyard where one of the suspects, aged 27-years, was traced.

According to the police when he saw them he produced a firearm while trying to flee the scene, resulting in a shootout with the police. He sustained injuries and was taken to hospital, where he remains under police guard. Police recovered a .38 Special revolver with its serial number filed off and one live round.

Further intensive investigations led to the arrest of two additional suspects, aged 35 and 36-years on Monday night at about 19:45 at Freedom Park, bringing the total number of arrests to three. The deceased’s vehicle has not yet been recovered.
