CRIME SCENE: George, Southern Cape: A manhunt has been launched for the suspects involved in a double murder here.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) said two men were fatally shot in Thembalethu, George, on Wednesday, 22 July 2026.

According to SAPS the Thembalethu police responded to a shooting in Tawule Street, Zone 9 on at about 18:00.

When they arrived they found the body of a man in the street. The police were further directed to the body of another man who had collapsed in a yard in Yawani Street. The victims, aged 43 and 31-years, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were declared deceased by paramedics at the scene.

“Crime scene experts combed the scene for clues, and several cartridges were found. The motive for the killings is yet to be established,” said SAPS.
