CRIME SCENE: Hanover Park, Cape Town: A suspected gang shooting rocked Newfields Village on Thursday morning, 23 July 2026 when a man was killed dead and two others wounded.

A Western Cape police media liaison officer, Captain FC Van Wyk, said Philippi police attended to the shooting incident in Blossom Street, Newfields Village, Hanover Park at about 10.

“They found the body of a 36-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his head. He was declared dead on the scene by paramedics.

“Two other victims aged 21 and 30-years were also shot and taken to a nearby medical facility with private transport. The 21-year-old sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his stomach and head and the 30-year-old was shot in his left leg and arm.

 “A murder and two counts of attempted murder were registered and the motive is believed to be gang related,” said Van  Wyk
