Police make several arrests for drugs, illegal gun and ammo

Man (20) too slow for cops

CRIME SCENE: Mitchells Plain, Cape Town: A 20-year-old man, who tried to run away from the police and allegedly dropped an illegal firearm, will face his day in court.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS) the Anti-Gang Unit conducted an intelligence-driven operation in Beacon Valley, Mitchells Plain on Wednesday, 16 September 2026.

“They followed up on information and were on their way to the identified premises when they spotted a male running to the back of the house and saw him drop something. They apprehended him and found a .38 Special revolver with ammunition lying on the ground,” said SAPS.

PAROW: Members of Operation Lockdown 3 searched an identified premises in Duncan Road, where they found 60 Mandrax tablets hidden behind a cupboard in the dining room. An adult female was arrested for the possession of drugs.

LANGA: A consignment of drugs comprising Tik, cocaine, ecstasy and Mandrax was confiscated at a  house in Haarlem Street, Langa, on Wednesday, 16 September 2026 by members of  Operation Lockdown 3. 

SAPS said they also confiscated an undisclosed amount of cash, which is believed to be the proceeds of crime and arrested a man for dealing in drugs.
