Police arrest woman (20) as people goes in rampage
Child (2) brutally murdered
CRIME SCENE: Sekurung Village, Limpopo: A 20‑year‑old woman has been arrested for the murder of a two‑year‑old child in the Lebowakgomo policing area.

Police responded to a reported kidnapping at around 11:55 on Tuesday, 13 October 2026 and, upon arrival at Sekurung Mountain, discovered the body of the child, who was identified at the scene by her mother. The suspect was still present and was immediately traced and arrested.
According to the South African Police Service, preliminary reports suggest the child was taken from her home before being fatally stabbed.
“She also sustained burn wounds after the suspect allegedly set a fire at the family’s home before leaving with the child. The motive for the attack remains unclear. Police have opened cases of murder and malicious damage to property.
“Following the incident, angry community members allegedly went on a rampage and set the suspect’s house alight,” said SAPS.
Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Jan Scheepers condemned the vigilante action, urging residents to remain calm and allow the justice system to take its course.
“We emphasise that criminal acts must be dealt with through the justice system. We call on the community to allow the police to conduct their duties without interference,” he said.
