Teenagers arrested for gun, drugs

CRIME SCENE: Hanover Park, Cape Town: The South African Police Service (SAPS) Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) have taken three guns off the streets and arrested three people.

During an intelligence-driven the operation on Tuesday, 23 June 2026, the Unit arrested a 19-year-old male suspect in Lansry Walk after he was found in possession of a prohibited firearm and eight rounds of ammunition.

Follow-up operations led the team to a premises in the same street, where they arrested an 18-year-old male for possession and dealing in drugs after the discovery of 15 sachets of Tik, 51 heroin sachets and an undisclosed amount of cash.

The operation then moved to Cascade Court where a 27-year-old man was arrested when he was found in possession of a prohibited firearm and 11 rounds of ammunition.

Manenberg: In an unrelated incident, the police were busy with visible patrols at around 17:00 on Tuesday, 23 June 2026 when they found an abandoned prohibited firearm with 17 rounds of ammunition at a field between the railway tracks and Yusuf Dadoo Street in Manenberg. An enquiry was opened at Manenberg SAPS for investigation.
