CRIME SCENE: Namakwa District, Northern Cape: The South African Police Service (SAPS) here have arrested several suspects for possession of and dealing in drugs.

On 7 September 2026, at approximately 22:50, members of Nababeep SAPS were conducting routine patrols in Saal Street, Concordia, when they stopped and searched a 38-year-old male suspect. The suspect was found in possession of drugs and was subsequently arrested for possession of drugs.

Later that evening, at midnight, police members conducting patrols in Bethel Street, Concordia, arrested a 38-year-old male suspect who was found in possession of drugs.

On 8 September 2026 at approximately 16:10, police acted on information regarding suspected drug dealing at premises in Loeriesfontein.

A search warrant was executed at the identified premises, where a 45-year-old man was arrested for dealing in drugs.

“During the search, the suspect attempted to dispose of the drugs by flushing them down the toilet.

“However, members intervened swiftly and managed to recover the drugs. An undisclosed amount of cash, suspected to be the proceeds of illicit drug sales, was also seized.

“The crackdown continued during the early hours of 10 September 2026, when Nababeep police received information regarding a suspect allegedly selling drugs in Plaatjie, Concordia.

“At approximately 02:10, members proceeded to the identified premises, where the door was opened by the suspect. A search was conducted with the suspect’s permission, resulting in the discovery and seizure of Mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R1 500.

“A 36-year-old female suspect was arrested for possession of drugs and subsequently appeared in court,” said SAPS.
