Success for Operation Lockdown

CRIME SCENE: Ocean View, Cape Town: The South African Police Service (SAPS) have recovered copper, brass and dagga at a premises in Ocean View.

According to the police, members of Operation Lockdown 3, conducted an intelligence driven operation at a premises in Riverside Road, Ocean View on Tuesday night, 10 June 2026, searching for drugs.

During the search they found 31kg of copper wire and fittings, 5kg of brass fittings and wire as well as a parcel dagga and 38 small packets dagga.

A 54-year-old man was arrested for the possession of dagga and presumed stolen property and is due to appear in the Simon’s Town Magistrates’ court on Friday, 12 June 2026.

Bishop Lavis: In an unrelated matter members of the Anti-Gang Unit deployed in Bishop Lavis area were conducting foot patrols in 7th Avenue informal settlement, when they found a green plastic bag hidden in an electrical box. Upon searching the plastic bag, the members found a 9mm pistol with 15 rounds of ammunition. An investigation into the origin of the firearm armed was launched.
