Tuynhuys intruder arrested

CRIME SCENE: Cape Town: A man will appear in court on Thursday, 29 October 2026 after allegedly trespassing on the premises of Tuynhuys, the Cape Town office of the South African Presidency.

The Hawks’ Crimes Against the State (CATS) have launched an investigation into the incident after the arrest of  the 41-year-old suspect on Tuesday, 27 October 2026.

A Hawks spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Siyabulela Vukubi, said the suspect will be charged for Contravention of the National Key Points Act.

“While conducting foot patrols on Tuesday, Presidential Protection Services members deployed at Parliament noticed a suspicious person running in the garden at Tuynhuis.

“”When approached by police, the suspect could not give a clear explanation as to how he got inside the restricted area, hence the arrest,” said Vukubi.
