Polisie soek skieters na 3 sterf en 2 gewond word

Massa-slagting in Franschhoek

MISDAADTONEEL: Franschhoek, Kaapse Wynland: Die polisie soek na die moordenaars van drie mense wat Sondagoggend, 17 Mei 2026 in ‘n massa skietvoorval in Franschhoek vermoor is.

Volgens Brigadier Novela Potelwa van die Wes-Kaapse polisie se mediakantoor dui inligting daarop dat twee gewapende mans ‘n huis in Jakaranda-straat, Groendal, omstreeks 9:55 binne gegaan en verskeie skote afgevuur het. Drie mans is op die toneel dood, terwyl ‘n vrou en nog ‘n man gewond is. Die slagoffers is tussen 30 en 35-jaar-oud.

Franschhoek se polisie het moord- en poging tot moord-dossiers vir ondersoeke oopgemaak.

Volgens Potelwa het speurders van die provinsiale ernstige geweldsmisdaad-eenheid intussen die ondersoek oorgeneem. Geen arrestasies is nog gemaak nie en die motief vir die voorval word ondersoek.

Polisie kry groot hoeveelheid dwelms

MISDAADTONEEL: Hanover Park: Die polisie het ‘n groot aantal dwelms tydens ‘n operasie in Hanover Park Vrydag 15 Mei 2026 gekonfiskeer.

‘n Mediaskakelbeampte vir die polisie in die Wes-Kaap, kaptein Frederick van Wyk, sê die taakspan teen ekonomiese misdaad was omstreeks 19:00 besig om in die gebied te patrolleer toe hulle inligting ontvang oor dwelmaktiwiteite by ‘n perseel.

“Hulle het die inligting opgevolg, die perseel deursoek en ‘n groot hoeveelheid dwelms in ‘n kas gevind.

“’n Totaal van 262 Tik-strooitjies, 177 Mandrax-tablette, 44 klein sakkies Tik, 11 klein sakkies kokaïen, 10 gram kokaïen en kontant, wat vermoedelik die opbrengs van misdaad is, is gekonfiskeer,” het Van Wyk gesê.

‘n 30-jarige man is gearresteer vir die besit van en handel in dwelms.

Suspected drug dealer arrested

CRIME SCENE: Hanover Park: The police have confiscated a large number of drugs during an operation in Hanover Park on Friday 15 May 2026.

A media liaison officer for the police in the Western Cape, Captain Frederick van Wyk said at about 19:00 members of the Anti-Economic Crime Task Team were patrolling when they received information of drug activities taking place at a premises in the area.

“They followed up on the information, searched the premises and found a large quantity of drugs hidden in a cupboard.  

“A total of 262 Tik straws,177 Mandrax tablets, 44 small sachets of Tik,11 small sachets cocaine,10 grams of cocaine and cash, believed to be the proceeds of crime, were confiscated,” said Van Wyk

 A 30-year-old man was arrested for the possession of and dealing in drugs.

MISDAADTONEEL: Wesbank, Kaapstad: Vier mense, waarvan drie vroue, is dood en een beseer in ‘n massamoord in Wesbank Saterdagaand 16 Mei 2026.

Volgens ‘n media skakelbeampte vir die Wes-Kaapse polisie, kolonel Andrè Traut, het die polisie omstreeks 20:00 op die voorval in Strandveld-straat gereageer.

“Toe die lede daar aankom, het hulle drie volwasse vroue en een volwasse man, tussen 32 en 39 jaar oud, met skietwonde ontdek. Die slagoffers is op die toneel deur mediese personeel dood verklaar. ‘n Kind van 7-jaar oud is hospital toe gejaag vir behandeling.

“Voorlopige ondersoek dui daarop dat die voorval moontlik bendeverwant kan wees,” het Traut gesê.

Die omstandighede rondom die skietery word tans deur die eenheid vir ernstige en geweldsmisdaad ondersoek en geen arrestasies is nog gemaak nie.

Three women die, 7-year-old child wounded

Four killed in mass shooting

CRIME SCENE: Wesbank, Cape Town: Four people, including three women, were killed and one injured in mass shooting in Wesbank Wesbank on Saturday nighyt, 16 May 2026.

According to a media liaison officer for the Westen Cape police, Colonel Andrè Traut, the police responded to the incident in Strandveld Street, at about 20:00.

“When the members arrived they discovered three adult females and one adult male, aged between 32 and 39, with gunshot wounds. The victims were declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. An injured 7-year-old child was transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

 “Preliminary investigation suggests that the incident may be gang-related,” said Traut.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are currently under investigation by the Serious and Violent Crime Unit and no arrests have been made at this stage.

Polisie vang 19-jarige met gesteelde pistool

MISDAADTONEEL: Grassy Park, Kaapstad: ‘n Vuurwapen wat in November 2019 in Alberton, Gauteng, gesteel is, is na bewering in die besit van ‘n 19-jarige man gevind.

Die Grassy Park polisie se goeie werk het gelei tot die arrestasie van die jongman op Donderdag 14 Mei 2026 omstreeks 06:30.

Die polisie was besig met patrollies in Duikerlaan, Lotusrivier, toe hulle ‘n man in ‘n blou baadjie en ‘n swart-en-wit broek met ‘n blou sgsak om sy nek oplet.

‘n Media skakelbeampte van die Wes-Kaapse polisie, Kaptein FC Van Wyk, sê toe die man die polisievoertuig gewaar, het hy probeer weghardloop, maar die polisie het hom vinnig ingehaal.

“Hulle het hom deursoek en ‘n Norinco .45 mm-pistool en 10 .45 mm-patrone, sowel as twee klein sakkies Tik in die sak gevind. Verdere ondersoeke het aan die lig gebring die vuurwapen is in November 2019 in Alberton as gesteel aangemeld.

“Hy is in gearresteer vir die besit van ‘n onwettige vuurwapen en ammunisie, besit van dwelms,” het Van Wyk gesê.


Firearm stolen in Gauteng

19-year-old arrested for gun stolen in 2019

CRIME SCENE: Grassy Park, Cape Town: A firearm which was stolen in Alberton, Gauteng in November 2019 has been found, allegedly in the possession of a 19-year-old man.

The vigilance of Grassy Park SAPS members led to the arrest of the young man on Thursday, 14 May 2026 at about 06:30.

The members were patrolling in Duiker Avenue, Lotus River when they saw a male dressed in a blue jacket and a black and white pants carrying a blue sling bag around his neck.

Western Cape Media Liaison Officer, Captain FC Van Wyk, said when the man saw the marked police vehicle he attempted to run away but the police quickly caught up with him.

“They searched him and found a Norinco .45mm pistol and 10 .45mm rounds as well as two small packets of tik in the sling bag. Further investigations revealed that the firearm was reported stolen in Alberton in November 2019.

 “He was arrested for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of drugs and detained at Grassy Park SAPS,” said Van Wyk.

Sukses vir Operasie Lockdown

MISDAADTONEEL: Athlone, Kaapstad: Lede van die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD) verbonde aan Operasie Lockdown het twee verdagtes in afsonderlike voorvalle gearresteer. Die voorvalle het Donderdag 14 Mei 2026 en Vrydag 15 Mei 2026 plaasgevind.

Die polisie het omstreeks 17:30 in Athlone operasies uitgevoer en ‘n aantal persele deursoek. By ‘n huis in Sysamoreweg het hulle ‘n 40-jarige man met 31 Mandrax-tablette en twee halwe Mandrax-tablette in sy besit gevang.

KHAYELITSHA: Omstreeks 00:20 op Vrydag 15 Mei 2026 het die Operasie Lockdown-lede 116 rondtes ammunisie in Kamastraat, Site C, ontdek en ‘n 23-jarige vrou is gearresteer vir die onwettige besit van ammunisie.


No bail for Fadiel Adams - yet

NCC leader arrested

UPDATE! The leader of the National Coloured Congress and Member of Parliament ,Fadiel Adams was granted R10,000 bail in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court, Durban on Friday, 15 May 2026.  The magistrate in the case, Gwendolyn Robertson, attached bail conditions to the ruling, including that Adams reports to the police twice a week and that he doesn’t make contact with the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT). The case was postponed to 14 August 2026.

UPDATE! NCC leader Fadiel Adams will have to wait for his bail application to be heard after the State requested a postponement in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 7 May 2026. Adams made his first appearance in the court on Thursday following his arrest on Tuesday, 5 May 2026. He is due to appear again on Wednesday, 13 May when the bail application is expected to proceed.

CRIME SCENE: Pelican Park, Cape Town: The South African Police Service (SAPS) arrested the leader of the National Coloured Congress (NCC) and Member of Parliament, Fadiel Adams at the parliamentary village in Pelican Park on Tuesday afternoon, 5 May 2026.

This came after the SAPS Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) had earlier on Tuesday made an appeal for Adams to hand himself over at the nearest police station. Acording to the police the matter relates to a case of fraud and defeating and or obstructing the course of justice.

The police said it was in possession of a J50 warrant of arrest for Adams.

“The warrant relates to serious allegations that he interfered with ongoing investigations into the murder of the ANC Youth League Leader, Mr Sindiso Magaqa.

“The task team discovered that Mr Adams interfered with the now convicted and sentenced hitman at a very sensitive and advanced stage of the police’s investigation.

“Police have gone through extensive efforts to locate Mr Adams, including visiting multiple addresses associated with him. Arrangements were made with his attorney to hand himself over on Monday, 4 May 2026, at the Cape Town Central Police Station, but as of now, he has not cooperated.

“Mr Adams was scheduled to appear before a KwaZulu-Natal court on Monday, but failed to do so,” read a police statement.

Adams had repeatedly before stated that he won’t be intimidated by the police.


Drugs, ammo seized in anti-crime operations

Two suspects in lockdown

CRIME SCENE: Athlone, Cape Town: Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) attached to Operation Lockdown arrested two suspects in separate incidents on Thursday, 14 May 2026 and Friday, 15 May 2026.

 The members were conducting intelligence driven operations at around 17:30 in Athlone. They searched a number of premises and in Sysamore Way they hit the jackpot. Here a 40-year-old male suspect was found with 31 Mandrax tablets and two half of Mandrax tablets in his possession.

The suspect was arrested for possession of drugs.

KHAYELITSHA: At around 00:20 on Friday, 15 May 2026 the members discovered 116 rounds of ammunition in Kama Street, Site C and a 23-year-old female suspect was arrested for unlawful possession of ammunition.
