CRIME SCENE: Pretoria, Gauteng: The South African Police Services (SAPS) have arrested two suspects allegedly involved in ATM bombings and business robberies.

One of the suspects was caught hiding under a bed, according to SAPS.

The suspects, both aged 31-years, were arrested during a multidisciplinary intelligence-led operation conducted by the Gauteng Crime Intelligence, Tactical and Special Operations, Gauteng Highway Patrol, Pretoria West Detectives and Vusela Covert, on Wednesday, 23 September 2026.

The operation followed crime intelligence regarding individuals allegedly involved in ATM bombings, ATM safe pull-outs, drop-safe bombings and business robberies in Gauteng and neighbouring provinces.

“The team proceeded to a residence in Lotus Gardens, Pretoria West. Upon arrival, a woman was found at the premises and indicated that she was alone. A search of the residence was conducted, during which one of the suspects was found hiding underneath a bed. 

“The investigation continued, leading police to the premises of the second suspect, which was also searched. During the operation, police recovered a Z88 pistol and a semi-automatic rifle, both without serial numbers. A search of a motor vehicle was also conducted, resulting in the recovery of rifle ammunition and magazines,” said SAPS.
