MISDAADTONEEL: Steenberg, Kaapstad: ‘n Man is dood en twee mense beseer tydens ‘n skietvoorval Maandagmiddag, 18 Mei 2026.

Volgens sersant Wesley Twigg van die Wes-Kaapse polisie se media kantoor het die Steenberg-polisie omstreeks 12:15 op ‘n klag in Sullivan-straat gereageer. Met hul aankoms op die toneel het hulle die slagoffers met skietwonde aangetref.
Twigg het gesê ‘n 30-jarige man is doodgeskiet, terwyl ‘n 33-jarige man en ‘n 39-jarige vrou gewond is.
“Die 30-jarige slagoffer is op die toneel deur mediese personeel dood verklaar, terwyl die ander twee mense na ‘n hospitaal vervoer is vir behandeling. Die omstandighede rondom die voorval word ondersoek en arrestasies moet nog gemaak word,” het Twigg gesê.
Die Steenberg-polisie het sake van moord en poging tot moord geregistreer.

CRIME SCENE: Strandfontein, Cape Town: The police here arrested a 21-year-old man for possession of an unlicensed firearm on 28 April 2026.

The police responded to information about a person in possession of a firearm in Birkenhead Drive, Strandfontein. The suspect was pointed out to the police when they arrived and they searched his bag.
A Taurus revolver was found in the bag and he could not produce a firearm license. He was arrested there and then.
CRIME SCENE: Steenberg: Members of Operation Shanel 2, deployed in the Steenberg area to combat gang violence searched a premises in Sullivan Street, after they received information of a suspected gang member in possession of a firearm.
During the search they found a replica rifle in the house. The 32-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of an imitation firearm.
Operation Prosper deployments in the Steenberg and Muizenberg policing precincts to combat gang violence led to the arrest of a suspect for the possession of drugs on Tuesday, 28 April 2026.
During a search of a premises in Orchard Street, Hillview, the police found 27 Mandrax tablets, 16.94 grams of uncut Tik and 86 small packets containing Tik hidden in the oven in the house. A 29-year-old man was arrested for the possession of drugs.
The Anti-Gang Unit arrested a 25-year-old male who for possession of a unlicenced 9mm pistol without a serial number and ammunition, in Falcon Road, Seawind. He faces charges for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
