Man wounded as shooter strikes early
CRIME SCENE: Parkwood, Cape Town: The South African Police Service in Grassy Park has opened a case of attempted murder following an early morning shooting in Parkwood.
Unconfirmed reports suggest someone shot a Somalian national inside his shop.
According to Western Cape police liaison officer, Sergeant Wesley Twigg, the shooting occurred at 06:50 on Tuesday morning, 02 June 2026 in Heath Road.
“When police members arrived at the scene they found the male victim who sustained a gunshot wound to his chest. He was transported to a medical facility in a private vehicle. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation and arrests are yet to be made,” said Twigg.

CRIME SCENE: Lotus River, Cape Town: A 15-year-old boy was shot and killed in Lotus River on Wednesday morning, 27 May 2026.
According to Sergeant Wesley Twigg of the Western Cape Police media centre, Grassy Park police responded to a complaint of a shooting at 09:50, in Simon Road, Lotus River.
“When they arrived at the scene, they found the 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his chest and a 22-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his stomach. Both victims were transported to hospital by medical personnel,” said Twigg.
The boy later died in hospital because of the gunshot wound. Police are investigating murder and attempted murder cases.

Shooter kills man, wounds another
CRIME SCENE: Ottery, Cape Town: A man was killed and another wounded during a shooting in Ottery on Wednesday afternoon, 20 May 2026.
According to Sergeant Wesley Twigg, a media liaison officer for the Western Cape police, the shooting occurred at about 17:20 in Hooggenoeg Court, Ottery.
Twigg said a 42-year-old man was approached by unknown suspects who shot him before fleeing the scene.
“The victim was declared dead on the scene by medical personnel, while a 59-year-old was hit by a stray bullet and taken to hospital for treatment,” he said.

MISDAADTONEEL: Parkwood, Kaapstad: Die nuwe week het skaars begin op die Kaapse Vlakte toe twee mans vroeg Maandagoggend, 18 Mei 2026, in Parkwood doodgeskiet is.
Volgens sersant Wesley Twigg van die Wes-Kaapse polisie se mediakantoor het die Grassy Park-polisie gereageer op ‘n klagte van ‘n skietery wat omstreeks 05:15 in Willow Walk, Parkwood plaasgevind het.
Twigg sê toe die polisie by die toneel aankom, het hulle twee mans van 26 en 35-jaar-oud aangetref met skietwonde aan hul liggame.
Die slagoffers is deur mediese personeel op die toneel dood verklaar.
“Verslae dui daarop dat die slagoffers deur ‘n onbekende verdagte genader en geskiet is voordat die persoon van die toneel gevlug het. Die motief vir die aanval is vermoedelik bendeverwant. Grassy Park-speurders ondersoek twee aanklagte van moord,” het Twigg gesê.
