Six hit in mass shooting
CRIME SCENE: Khayelitsha, Cape Town: Three people have been killed and three wounded in another mass shooting incident in the Western Cape.

At approximately 18:00 on Tuesday evening, 27 May 2026, Lingelethu West police members responded to a complaint of a shooting in Mew Way, SD Section, Khayelitsha.
Upon arrival at the scene, the police discovered the bodies of three adult men who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. One victim was found outside the house, while two others were found inside the residence where they had reportedly been seated at the time of the attack.
The three people who were wounded were taken to hospital.
The motive for the attack is yet to be confirmed, but extortion-related activities could be the motive, the South African Police Service (SAPS) said in a statement.
“Experienced detectives attached to the Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Unit are pursuing all available leads to apprehend those responsible for the attack. At this stage, two unknown men are being sought.
“In addition to the investigation, operational forces have been deployed in the area to stabilise the situation and ensure increased police visibility within the affected community,” the police said.
